Hi there everybody! Hope you are all well and happy.

Just to let all of you know  that that one  weekend in July in San Diego was an unforgettable experience for me.  I/we enjoyed it immensely.  Only a few of you know that I lost my luggage in Dallas.  That should have been enough pain to  ruin my vacation but  thanks to you all who made me "forget" about that unfortunate incident (for a little bit)... hehehe.

To Francis Silagon-, for stopping at LAX to check on my bag, for your tireless effort driving us around, next time let us save the green jokes for later or we might get stranded in TJ, thanks Frankie...

The Tayao Family, excellent supper Mon thank you, sa uulitin po! To all the ladies who gave me moral support and helped me shop -Merian and Zoraida and of course Aleg, who found "the outfit", thank you. And Merian, maybe next time I might be able to fit in those fancy outfits that you were forcing me to try on, anyway, that was a lot of fun. Mon for being (in Merian's words), the hero of the afternoon.. for spotting and fixing the flat tire.. TY

Matilde (Telly)- thanks for doing, making, shaping, my brows... you are truly an artist. I like how the pictures came out. May pagasa pa pala! And for being such a  patient dance instructress. Hindi ko pa rin kuha ang steps! Ano ba yan!

Ladies at room 322 - thanks for the bed --actually for sharing your room.

Amie-and hubby  for being so gracious despite our  intruding upon their privacy  very late Saturday evening or was it past midnight, to borrow a boom box (kasi naman gusto pa ng  60's music habang nanonood ng video) and of course to boil the balut (sayang kasi! Dala pa ito ni Ben! Pinoy talaga ano!) Thanks a million, you are so kind.

Ben and Zoraida - for the special hopia, special balut. Yum ! Thanks. And of course to everyone present at the weekend reunion,  thank you dear friends for letting me, us  celebrate with such great company!

Till we meet again...

Here are some of the notes I received via e-mail and phone calls to be included in our reunion memory book with an added note "make sure you include this...... " Special notes are the following::

>>> FLAVIA COFFEE MACHINE - RAMADA LOBBY (superb assortments of coffee
roast)  - I do not know where you can order one. We will see if our QCHS website
can search it for you or go to FLAVIA.com.
>>> MOST TALENTED - TELLY ( you are really good !!! .... you can really sing and
gracefully swing to the music, too.).
>>> YOUNGEST GUEST - KATIE (Merian's good-looking daughter. She's around 5-6 yrs
old, already a wiz  in computer).
>>> MOST SPIRITED AND ROASTED, TOO - HERMIN ( I heard - suwerte ka raw napa-oo
        mo si Belinda.)
>>> MOST WANTED - ARTHUR ( if boys talked about the girls like the good ol' days in
high school - likewise, the girls liked to talk about the boys.)
>>> UNFORGETTABLE AIRPORT INCIDENT - BETH ( you're right Hermin and Art
wanted this story to be remembered. I thought it is cute. I will call on them to tell the
story as it happened at the San Diego airport last 7-18-03/P.M. - Baggage Claim
        Area.)
>>> A VERY SPECIAL PERSON - BEN ( who travelled all the way from our beloved
country - we love you, Ben!)

More notes:

>>> Isobel celebrated her birthday the week of our reunion and had a dinner with some of our friends and classmates. Epitacio Tambal and wife were present. Epie was on vacation from Saudi. Belated B-day Bel!

>>> Talked to Beth. She also celebrated her b-day with her wonderful husband Greg at Lake Tahoe this past weekend. Her b-day cake was a hit.

>>> Talked to Leo. Heard his good sounding deep voice from Hongkong. Thank you Leo for keeping our website updated with recent news and happenings. I requested Portia to e-mail you the reunion program. Leo might visit the States in 2004. We will be looking forward to this possibility.

>> Tried to call Manong Art (Sansait) in Toronto twice but not lucky to talk to him. The group missed you. How are you?

Everyone has their unforgetable highlights of the reunion. I will start with my TOP 5 FOOD/DRINK LISTS as follows:

   # 5 - Fried Rice ( especially prepared by the real cooks )
   # 4 - Balut (especially handled and delivered express to RM 322)
   # 3 - Chocolate Drink (especially mixed for the VIP)
   # 2 - Tequila chug-a-lug (especially organized by a good Macho friend from Class"69)
   # 1 - Cheese Cakes ( especially prepared, hand-carried and kept refrigerated in
RM 327. The cakes were good to the last bite. Thank you Girlie !!!!!!!!!!! )

The feelings of joy, excitement, and fun  will remain in my heart for a long time. Our reunion was truly a success and added another page of memories to our book of life. We were so blessed to see each other again after 33 yrs. -- full of life and happiness. Hope this will be a continuation of our high school friendship. All praise and thanks to everyone who made our reunion such an unfogettable weekend. For those who were not able to attend, hope to see you all in our next reunion in PI. Please, everyone who took pictures send me copy or lend me the negatives. I'm dying to see all your MAGANDA and POGI faces again !

LOVE YOU ALL!!!

My family and I were probably the last ones to leave San Diego on Monday, along with Girlie. She got bumped out of her flight and fortunately she was able to get a hold of Hermin and I while we were having dinner at the restaurant beside the hotel. Hermin gave her his room to use since he had already paid for it and I took Girlie to the airport the next day. The reason I mentioned this is to point out that we were being looked after all throughout the time we were there for the reunion and that we are trully blessed to have one another as friends.

I will never forget the highlights of this reunion just the way I remember it:

  • The endless screaming as we saw each other for the first time.
  • The warm hugs
  • The fabulous Friday night dinner prepared by Amie
  • Room 301
  • Emy learning more about the facts of life
  • The TAPSILOG breakfast along with the hot chocolate on Saturday morning specially when everybody (OK - yung mga babae lang) was cooking and talking at the same time in the kitchen
  • Noemi's dissapointing discovery
  • The endless jokes and laughter
  • The match-making events
  • The trips to the airport with Hermin
  • The emotional merienda sena at El Torito
  • The fabulous Saturday night dinner along with the Filipino band that Amie hired for us
  • The wild partying of dancing and tequila chug along (I was waiting for the orgy to start)
  • The final sing-along around the pool
  • Room 322 - where we watched Ben's tape from the P.I
  • Matilde's XXL's
  • Breakfast at Denny's Sunday morning
  • Room 327 - (Hermin's room)

The next reunions should be easy to plan as we now know that what we need to do is simply stay in the same hotel and have a room big enough to accommodate all of us at once since we enjoy each other's company so much that it does not really matter what we do.

Thank you Lord for this Gift!!!

We really had a BLAST !!!!!!!!! Words can't describe what happened in our reunion ! I am really glad that I came over for this. I will never never, never, never miss any of our reunions - God willing.

Do you know what ? From San Diego we passed by Mon Tayao's place to drop him off, then we proceeded to Francis Silagon's place and had a karaoke session!!!! Do you know what ? ( again ) Guess what the song number of "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" sung by Matilde was . . . . . 6970 !!!!!!!! Talaga din naman ang mga pangyayari. (with due respect to Jake of Batch 71 who was there )

Again - if there's a reunion next month here, I WILL COME AGAIN !!!!!

Emy - B I R !!!!!!! ( Girl Scout Three Fingers )

I'm so glad and thankful that you were able to attend and witness this GREAT AND WONDERFUL, HAPPY REUNION.  You could at least tell everyone back home.  It was really nice to see you in person.

We sure had a wonderful time.  Never laughed so hard before -  magkanda ihi-ihi sa katatawa.  Si Tillie busawsaw na nga eh (hahahahahaha).

You're right, Ben, words alone can't describe how I felt this past weekend.  I was happy to see you all and sad that we have to part ways again.  We were the last to leave the hotel (besides Hermin and family) and was able to say "till we meet again" to everyone.

Well, are you ready for another one for next year?  Teka, pahinga muna ako.  We got home at 2:30 this morning and I'm back to work already.  Wala pa akong tulog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love y'all!

Portia

Ditto!!!!

What a fun time we all had. I will do it again. I'm back to work and still have a hangover from our wonderful weekend. Words can't explain the feelings of seeing you all. And as usual, boys were picking on Emy who hasn't changed a bit.

I will be back on line as soon as I put my mind together but I would like to thank you all who came. For the others who were not able to come: you missed one hell of a reunion . Hats off to the 1969 and the only 1971 alumni who joined us this weekend. See you all in the 2005 Philippines reunion???????
